Introduction
RAMES Workshop as part or International Conference conducted at Eka Karya Botanical Garden, Bali, Indonesia on May 18th, 2023. This Workshop was conducted to introduce RAMES technology. RApid Metabolome Extraction and Storage (RAMES) technology is an innovative, simple, rapid, low-cost and miniaturized technology to prepare plant extracts for functional assays, as well to catalogue and preserve the metabolome of plants and other living organisms. RAMES technology is fully adapted to field conditions, where the access to lab tools, electricity and supplies may be limited, as it requires only a car or solar battery to operate. This technology also offers an ethical and sustainable alternative to the conventional collection of plant extracts, since sampling requires only 2 g of fresh tissue. This means that collections can be completed without seriously damaging any plants. RAMES technology (DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0203569), which is a method that can be done in the field quickly and does not damage the environment, and can be done quickly to detect every component in the plant. The RAMES technology also analyzes antioxidants, antibacterials, and antifungals. In this workshop, three activities were carried out, first exploration and sampling of metabolic plants for testing, second extraction of metabolic plants, and third mixing of plant extracts with acid for testing and waiting two days to see the test results.
Workshop Participants
The Workshop participants consisted of 5 Experts, 5 Mentors, and 15-20 Trainees. The trainees could be students or young scientists from many parts of Indonesia.
